Leadership and Staff

  • Scott Nowlin

    Ruling Elder - Session Clerk

Scotty was born again when he was 10 during an altar call at a neighborhood church. While attending Officers' Christian Fellowship bible studies at the U.S. Air Force Academy and after his graduation in 1992, he grew immensely in his knowledge of the eternal truths of the Bible, God's sovereignty, and His saving grace through Jesus Christ alone. In 1993, he married Joelyn Taylor, his high school friend, Academy classmate and sister in Christ. He's served in the Air Force for over 24 years as an aeronautical engineer. The family has lived in New Mexico, Texas, Virginia, the United Kingdom, Colorado, and now Utah. He and Joelyn have four children -- Faith (18), Christina (16), Jonathan (14), and Seth (12). They've been members of Grace Church since 2013.

  • Nick Winder

    Ruling Elder

Nick moved to Utah with his family when he was nine years old. After being raised by Mormon parents, he left the LDS faith during his freshman year in college. After graduating from University, and solely by the grace of God, Nick met his wonderful wife, Taylee, and her Christian family. Through many difficult conversations and after having read the gospels for the first time, his life was radically changed by the indwelling of the Spirit of God. God opened Nick's heart to the gospel and lavished him with grace and mercy, revealing the mystery of Jesus Christ and His gospel. Nick and Taylee have been attending Grace Church since August 2014. They have three beautiful children and are excited to be a part of what God is doing in Utah through Grace Church.

Brett became a Christian shortly after graduating college and married his lovely wife Hannah not long after that. Brett has been worshipping at Grace since 2003 and has marveled at God's provision for His church in that time. He was ordained as an elder in 2016 and is privileged to serve as the church's Christian Education coordinator. Brett and Hannah enjoy exploring God's creation with their three children.

Greg was born in Brooklyn, NY and was raised in a Non-Denominational Christian home in Virginia. He became a Christian in 1992 and over the years, by God's loving grace, has progressively grown in the faith. He met God's perfect provision for him, Leah, in 2012, and they have been married since 2014. They had their first child in 2016, Noah, and are expecting their second child in early 2018. They moved to Utah in 2016, and have attended Grace Church since that time. • Troy Duran

    Deacon

Troy has lived in Utah his entire life and became a Christian as a teenager when he met a youth pastor in his neighborhood and was called to the family of God. He grew in his faith and understanding of the Gospel since that time. He has served many different roles within the church and enjoys serving others for God's glorification. Troy and his family recently moved back to his hometown in Layton and transferred from Jordan Presbyterian Church to Grace Church where they worship and serve. Troy is married to Cheri Duran and together they have six children.

  • Loren Asbury

    Deacon

Loren first sensed God’s call on his life when he was a teenager at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church in Boone, North Carolina. In his early twenties he joined the Air Force, traveled the world as an F-16 Crew Chief and finally settled down in Layton, Utah in 2000. This is where he met his wonderful wife Lea Ann and began raising their three children: Caitlin, Tyler, and Luke. In the summer of 2017 Loren and his family were blessed to join Grace Church where he has enjoyed growing in Christ, getting to know his church family, and playing on the Grace men’s softball team. “I thank God and his Son Jesus Christ as the reason I am where I am now, in the fullness of His grace. Praise be to the Lord!”

  • Taylee Winder

    Worship Coordinator

What is corporate worship? What does it mean to be a singing congregation? How does the music we sing reflect the Gospel? Is our worship a witness and testament to our changed hearts in Christ? Do hymns and sacred literature contribute to our praise? Is God glorified in our worship?

All of these questions and more, have been considered by Taylee as she serves our church. Each Sunday she hopes you will be encouraged and edified by the privilege that is ours to worship our King.
